Kanako Furuta
President of Honolulu Beauty ClinicIn June of 2024, Honolulu Beauty Clinic (HBC) took over “Skin Attraction,” a clinic that has been in operation for 26 years.
Originally, I was a dermatologist specializing in allergies in Japan, but I moved to Hawaii in 2011 to support my husband’s surgical clinical training.
Over the past 13 years, while raising our four sons, I have been involved in dermatopathology research at Queen’s Medical Center, actively participating in academic conferences and returning to clinical practice during visits to Japan to enhance my knowledge and experience as a dermatologist.
As I settled into life in Hawaii, my desire to engage in aesthetic medicine here became increasingly clear. In 2021, I obtained my esthetician license in Hawaii and gained practical experience at a friend’s cosmetic surgery clinic while researching the unique skin concerns and needs specific to Hawaii. In 2022, I founded HBC and, after meeting Skin Attraction, realized my long-held dream of opening my own clinic.
While I do not perform diagnoses or treatments as a physician in Hawaii, I conduct initial consultations as an esthetician, assessing skin conditions before treatments and advising on whether a consultation with a dermatologist might be necessary. Our clinic specializes in treatments for melasma, which is challenging to manage due to the strong UV exposure in Hawaii.
My mission is to evaluate each customer’s skin condition, recommend appropriate treatments, and provide safe and reliable aesthetic medical services. I am dedicated to using all my knowledge to make this clinic a trusted and reassuring place where customers can confidently seek skincare and beauty advice.
